Friends, I totally get the health and wellness space can be overwhelming.
Butter in your coffee?
Ho shou wo in your smoothies? (Ho Shou whaaaa?)
Coconut oil as mouthwash?
It's enough to make you either write off this wellness lifestyle (because fuck that) or feel overwhelmed with anxiety about all the things you have or haven't been doing.
Let's level set for a moment, shall we?
Do what you can, when you can.
Don't think that because you aren't drinking green drinks for breakfast and bathing in tubs of do good/feel good/taste good things 24 hours a day you're doing it all wrong.
You're not doing it wrong. You're doing you. You're being human.
I'm right there with you. Perfect is lame anyways.
This is all a process. We take what we want, we leave what we don't, and we find the things that work for us in our lifestyle.
In my particular journey I've always been focused on what is going INTO my body (foods/thoughts/actions) but not necessarily what is going ON my body. Sure, I buy the nice face lotion and (often overpriced) makeup because with that price-tag it must be "good", right? Wrong. Have you ever actually looked at the label on your skincare products?
Yeah, I hadn't either...
You guys, it's TERRIFYING. We are slathering full blown toxic ingredients all over the largest organ of our body (the skin).
If you're in the wellness space, you know this is nothing new, but I'm hoping to help push this conversation more mainstream because it DOES matter. What we are putting on our body is important. It's vital to your overall wellness. This body is your one precious vessel to move through life in. You must take care of it. It's your responsibility.
I've been testing out a handful of organic skincare lines and they aren't all great, that's for sure. Some of it simply doesn't live up to my chemical-laden standards. Please don't let that push you away though. There ARE great products out there! You just have to do a little digging.
I'm particularly loving Pangea Organics products and (not-so-secretly) fan-girling over them. They are hands-down my favorites, existing in all their plant glory without added chemicals. The smell is next level and you can literally EAT THIS PRODUCT if you wanted to. That alone says it all.
All the products are great but my favorites are the Pyrenees Lavendar Body Wash, the Italian White Sage Body Oil, and the Brazillian Brown Sugar Body Polish (OMG THAT BODY POLISH!).
HERE is their website if you want to check it out for yourself.
It is actually happiness in a bottle. My skin drinks in the goodness and is left feeling rejuvenated and nourished. Did someone say spa day?
I know that this is just another thing to look at in your wellness lifestyle, and I realize that making everything 100% organic and chemical-free is not easy (and not realistic) but I do encourage you to explore what you're putting on your skin. It matters. Your pores are soaking in everything you're putting on. Really think about that. Do you want to be bathing yourself in chemicals? I'd rather not.
This is just another step in living your best, most inspired, most taken-care of life. Take it or leave it. You do you.
(I was not asked by Pangea to do this. I'm just dorking out on the good shit so that you can dork out with me.)
