"The one who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been." - Albert Einstein
... I've heard he's a smart man. Wink, wink.
It's interesting being in advertising, and leaping into my passions in the health and wellness world. I find myself hitting resistance from peers that don't know why I would consider leaving advertising, how I will ever make actual money, and if I am just "giving up". It's quite the opposite in fact. I am showing up.
I am showing up for myself and the mission that I know I am in the world to fulfill. I seem to have been hiding from the truth for the last couple of years (which I wouldn't change for anything) and that's ok. It's important to get off course, to then be reminded of who you truly are.
It's easy to fall into the stereotypes of what you (society, family, culture) think you should be doing. It's understandable that you'd want to do your best to fit in (and have a stable income) so that you don't ruffle any feathers. It's much easier that way.
But please. I beg you. Ruffle those damn tail feathers.
I have decided that it ok, actually it's f-ing great, to fit out. I realize that not everyone wants to eat the way I do. Not everyone wants to live the lifestyle that I choose. Not everyone wants to confront the barriers that stand in their way. Not everyone wants to actually sit with their (sometimes unpleasent) feelings.
That's hard work. You don't want to see the ugly sides of yourself, ammiright?!
But it's necessary. It's important. And it's too damn boring to fit in.
"Fitting out" allows you to be your authentic self. It gives space for real connection with the world around you, alignment in sexual relationships, prosperity in your career endeavors, and cohesion with your interactions in the world.
Be real, my friends. Be real fucking real.
The universe will thank you in unimaginable ways.
